When I was younger, New Years was a time for grownups to get together, wear fancy clothes drink and laugh too much.  or was it laugh and drink too much?  Anyway, as I got older,  I could hardly wait to be big enough to do the same. When I WAS “of age,” my actual New Years Eve Party experience wasn’t all that great. It looked like it should have been way more fun than it was.  That was true of many things that I thought would be so wonderful, when I was looking at them from a small child’s eyes. When I first began to learn about internet marketing, I made many mistakes  that ended up eating a lot of time and money. The time part, I’ll never get back. This article is about things that didn’t work and things that did and how to avoid the ones that didn’t.

Basically, internet or online marketing is no different than any other type of marketing. It’s location and structure happen online, although it can also blend nicely with marketing from a physical business location as well.

Not so long ago, I had no idea how to do much more than send email and look up things on the web.  It wasn’t THAT long ago where cell phones looked like bricks and computers had recently shrunk to fit on a desk. My first computer was  introduced in October of 1986 and was a Compaq 386-based PC compatible one. It was amazingly clunky by today’s standards, but it was a miracle of sorts.

Those were the days when no one really understood the dizzying speed with which technology would invade our lives with “convenience and no real further need for paper.” Ha!

For anyone who has agonized for hours over trying to fix something relatively minor, or spent time wanting to learn how to do “this one little thing” – and in utter frustration, found themselves yearning for the old typewriters where, although it was harder to correct the typing, the mechanics of making the darn thing work were within most operator’s grasp.

When I first purchased the Compaq 386, I remember asking the sales guy if it would be large enough memory or power or capacity (I had no idea of what to even ask, but I DO remember my kids Atari 64 from a few years ago and thought that the 64 must be much smaller than 386.)  So, would this 386 be big enough for my future chiropractic office and patient files?” Read the rest of this entry
